The reasons they quote vary from &#8220;My Competitor has a website, so I need it too!&#8221; to &#8220;I am looking to <em>attract</em> a few international customers and they ask me for my website address&#8221;.</p>
<p>Most of these clients are traditional <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brick_and_mortar_business" target="_blank">brick and mortar</a> businesses that want to support their business growth using the internet as a medium. And are actually working towards one of the 3 broad objectives:</p>
<ol>
<li>Lead Generation</li>
<li>Brand Building</li>
<li>Information dissemination</li>
</ol>
<p>Most of these potential clients believe the website to be the holy grail of the 21st century for their business and have expectations of multi-fold rise in business enquiries/revenues. However there are hundreds of websites being launched or revamped everyday and more than a billion webpages that the se</p>
<p>Unless one manages to attract some traffic to the site, having a website in place that has the most eye catching visuals and engaging content makes little sense. And this is where the buzzwords of Online Marketing come in &#8211; Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), Social Media, User Generated Content, Viral Marketing, PPC (Pay Per Click), Video Ads, Email and Database Marketing etc are tools that help businesses attract and retain traffic to their site.</p>
